Evidence you should verify
- Exact model number and hardware revision
- Current stable firmware version
- A genuine OpenVPN, WireGuard, or supported VPN client
- A provider configuration matching that client protocol
- Router processing performance for the speed you need
- Which household devices and networks use the tunnel
ASUS states that available VPN types and VPN Fusion support vary by model. NordVPN similarly advises checking the manual for OpenVPN client support when it does not publish an exact router tutorial. Brand-level support is therefore not model-level confirmation.

Does VPN passthrough mean my router is compatible?
No. Passthrough normally allows a device-created VPN connection to cross the router. A commercial router-wide setup generally requires the router to act as a VPN client.
Is an OpenVPN server the same as an OpenVPN client?
No. A server accepts incoming remote connections to the home network, while a client initiates a connection from the router to a VPN provider.
Can the checker identify my router automatically?
No. It deliberately does not scan your network. Use the label, admin page, and official manual to identify the exact model, revision, and firmware.
